I’ve tried to search on Google on how I could make my built in Wireless card to work on my Debian 4.0 (etch) installation, however all I found was outdated information. So, I had to find out how to make it work and compile it on my blog for 2009.

Well anyway, here are the details that worked for me.

1. On your Linux terminal, type in louie@sally: /> lspci
   Look for the line:

   02:02.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter (rev 04)

2. Then download the firmware at http://ipw2100.sf.net/firmware.php
3. Uncompress the file and then put it on /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware
4. Restart and cross your fingers
