How I wish I could do this on my stock Clarion Head Unit (HU) (Model: arx3170) on our Mazda Protege 98. I currently don’t have a CD player on my H.U. even a CD Changer, so what I am doing right now is, I plug in a tape that has a wire going to my CD Player (Portable) and thats how I get my collection of mp3′s playing. I am going to try this soon, this is really cool!
